Runa Laila was recently selected to be one of the UN ambassadors for 'Rising Voices', a non-profit campaign to bring the voice of Eastern Women to the World. Her music is a source of inspiration for women in the region and beyond.
Runa Laila is said to be an inspiration for all South Asian women to aspire to be a singer. She is also a pillar of all children. Besides being a singer, she is a well known teacher and is a graduate of B.Ed., and also holds a Diploma in Fine Arts from Liaquat National College of Arts.
Tasheem Raqib is the younger sibling of the one and only Laila Nasrin. His father was the famous Qawwal, Laila Nasrin's father. He was inspired by Laila Nasrin and started his singing career. He is also a recipient of the Pride of Performance Award. and is also an alumnus of the National academy of fine arts. Tasheem was born in 1967 in Quetta, Balochistan, Pakistan. His first love was poetry. He was so fond of it that he almost gave up singing, but his father made him perform on the radio station.
Later he made his first appearance on a TV Show named 'The Qawwali Show' on Baloch Television. He has sung qawwali in its every episode. In the seventies he started doing recording in Pakistan. He has worked in many TV shows and movies.
In the 70s, Runa was a popular singer at the Karachi's famous 'Laal Nishan'(Live Music). She was also active in the Pakistani film industry as a playback singer. She sang a duet with 'Shahid' for a movie 'Armaan-e-Kamila' named 'Zindagi Meri, Hazar Meri'(1971).She had a son, Abdul Jabbar, and a daughter, Mariam Jabbar. 827ec27edc
